Milwaukee, WI – In an unexpected chain of circumstances, Milwaukee Police Officer Dominique Heaggan, 24, allegedly killed Sylville Smith, 23, over the weekend sparking unrest, multiple vehicles set on fire, civil disobedience ending with at least five businesses being burned and some businesses looted. Several photos in question have surfaced in social media showing Officer Heaggan in a bath tub with another man. It didn’t take long for Facebook (FB) users in the post thread to question, if Officer Heaggan is actually Gay and a third photo also circulating is showing Heaggan making what some are identifying as a gang sign. In a fourth photo, Officer Heaggan is at an afterset party, which in some cases are illegal.
Officer Heaggan could not be reached for comment. He remains in administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
Officer Heaggan is also a singer and composer who video recorded a song about doing drugs, shooting people, igniting a riot like Baltimore and weapons. The Milwaukee Police Department has not officially identified Officer Heaggan as the officer who fatally shot Smith on Saturday afternoon citing an ongoing investigation, but postings that have gone viral on social media have confirmed that Officer Heaggan killed Smith. Hispanic News Network U.S.A. was the first news source to identify Officer Heaggan after noticing FB postings identifying him as the officer who fatally shot Smith. Both Heaggan and Smith knew each other well and had even attended the same school.
Mayor Tom Barrett said Sylville Smith ran from the scene with a gun in his hand when Officer Heaggan shot him, according to body cam video still image that he saw. The shooting incident happened within 20 to 25 seconds. Smith was shot once in the chest and a second bullet struck his arm.
The ACLU-Milwaukee has called on the MPD and the Wisconsin Department of Justice to release the full footage of a body camera video recording of Smith’s death. Apparently, a squad car dash cam video is also being review in the investigation.
