Milwaukee, WI – A flyer posted in Facebook and being circulated by members of the Puerto Rican Team (PRT), a for profit group in Milwaukee is generating criticism after a slogan saying, “This Ain’t Chicago!” was included. Some people in Milwaukee and Chicago took offense, but most likely the PRT wants to make sure people don’t confuse their smaller festival with the huge Puerto Rican Festival in Chicago, which takes place in June.
This year, a new sign was placed to identify Humboldt Park in Milwaukee where the PR festival will take place on August 14 at the Milwaukee County Park, but the name of the park was mispelled “Humbolt Park” as well. Hopefully, people won’t confuse the Milwaukee PR festival with the Chicago PR festival or get lost because of the typo in the park’s sign.
Chill out people, it is only a Milwaukee PR festival and PRT, stop trying to keep up with the Joneses in Chicago.
You would think that the PRT in Milwaukee would try and welcome Chicago’s Puerto Rican community to Milwaukee for its event, but with a slogan “This Ain’t Chicago!” is bad advertising and not good public relations or marketing strategy to generate funds, some might argue.
