Mexican municipal, state and federal workers forced to attend this year’s El Grito event at the Zocalo Mall in Mexico City.

Mexico City. Mexico, D.F. – On Monday, municipal, state and federal workers in the State of Mexico were forced by President Enrique Peña Nieto’s (EPN) administration to attend El Grito event for Mexico’s Independence Celebration at El Zocalo Mall on Tuesday night at midnight or face sanctions. An estimated 148 buses sponsored by EPN transported government workers to the Zocalo.
Municipalities from around the state send out letter’s on Monday making it mandatory for municipal, state and federal employees to attend the annual Grito event.
A boycott call for El Grito at the Zocalo went viral on social media against EPN’s narco-government and as a protest to thousand’s of unsolved murders in Mexico including the missing 43 students from Ayotzinapa.
